Vistalegre and sea views

We are in Tiana, a town in the Maresme area, which borders the region of Barcelona. Located on an urban plot, this house is conceived as the owners’ habitual residence.

A three-metre difference in level between the natural terrain and Carrer Vistalegre contributes to reinforcing the goals of privacy and to provide view of the sea from the main spaces. Pedestrian and vehicular accesses have been arranged one level below the ground floor, at street level.

Structurally, the shape and distribution of the volumes allow the use of reinforced concrete load-bearing walls, leaving the interior free of structural elements and achieving maximum use and flexibility of the spaces. The walls in contact with the ground (ground floor and semi-basement) are clad in fair-faced concrete, while the first floor is clad in natural limestone. The cutting enhances its horizontality and highlights the slope of the roof, opening up the master suite to the views towards the sea.

The programme has been developed on three levels.

The semi-basement for parking, a workshop area and multi-purpose room.

The ground floor has been arranged as two areas: one full open plan for the living room, dining room and kitchen, oriented to make the most of natural light and garden, and another more compartmentalised area comprising a guest suite and laundry areas.

The first floor, connected to the lower floor by a staircase and glass walkway, contains the master suite. The dressing room acts as a distributor to provide access to the bedroom or double bathroom, both with direct access to two terraces.

The plot’s perimeter has been landscaped to achieve maximum independence. In this way, the spaces can enjoy the views from large windows and the boundary between interior and exterior is softened. The interior is now the exterior, and the exterior is the interior.
