Renovation of a Penthouse and Residential Architecture

The penthouse is located in the upper part of Barcelona, where light and views define the essence of the space. From the outset, the shape of this home has been a defining factor: four façades that are completely open to the outside and a glazed south façade that connects directly to a terrace. The stairs and elevator are located in the center of the floor plan, creating a structural core that organizes the home's circulation.

Our Barcelona-based architecture studio developed the renovation, which focuses on grouping the living room, dining room, and kitchen together next to the main façade. These spaces open up to the façade across its entire width, establishing a direct and luminous relationship with the exterior. This approach enhances the entry of natural light, a key element in contemporary residential architecture.

The central communications core is treated as a distinguishing feature and is clad in stone. It acts as the backbone of the project. The bedrooms are configured around this volume to optimize privacy and comfort within the complex.

The renovation emphasizes formal simplicity, clean lines, and a serene, orderly aesthetic. Warm, luminous materials with a delicate design based on wooden flooring and light-colored cladding were used to create a sophisticated, functional home.
