The history of a place

The building, comprising 108 flats for medium-term rental, is located in one of the most historic areas of the city, surrounded by emblematic structures such as Arc de Triomf, Central Catalana de Electricidad power plant offices and Nord train station. A desire to respectfully integrate into its surroundings has therefore accompanied the project from the outset.

The building rises above the transition slab that separates the lobby of the Arc de Triomf underground and train station. This factor determined its total weight and was decisive for the design and construction system that was chosen: metal frames with articulated joints, a veritable Meccano of increased dimensions, perforated slabs of minimum thickness and compositions of enclosures and dry partitions. An advanced spring damping system has been implemented between the new structure and existing station structure to prevent transmitting the vibrations arising from the railway infrastructure.

A swimming pool and sunbathing area on the rooftop allows users to enjoy the best 360-degree views of the city, with an unprecedented outstanding view of Arc de Triomf.

The interior design project is based on formal simplicity, clean lines, serene identity and warm materials, thereby fulfilling the goal of creating a sophisticated yet practical home.
