Sant Roc Badalona

Sant Roc
Badalona
A neighborhood in transformation

This action takes place in the context of an overall project to remodel the Sant Roc neighborhood of Badalona. Specifically, it consists of a complex of 4 residential buildings with a total of 252 subsidized housing units, 16 commercial premises and a parking lot with capacity for 180 cars.

The resulting dwellings are intended to house those affected by the general redevelopment of Sant Roc.

The development defines two linear and symmetrical blocks located at the end of the area of action and two identical tower buildings, located in the central block, thus forming a uniform front on a large avenue.

The formalization is based on clear volumes, with a facade of white prefabricated concrete panels that contrasts with a skin of translucent elements in the exterior spaces of each dwelling.

The difficulty of remodeling the neighborhood without mobilizing its inhabitants after demolition of the existing buildings, relocation and rehousing in the new developments, meant that the project was carried out in different phases. The first completed phase incorporates one of the side blocks and consists of 98 dwellings distributed in three stairways, with a linear geometry of 8 floors which, at the end of the avenue, grows in height to 11 floors.

The proposal combines a complex and flexible project with the image of modernity and adaptation to an urban environment that meets current housing and equipment needs.
