A respectful renovation

Located on the banks of the Mapocho River in the Vitacura district, this building, inaugurated in 2002, was the first project developed by the studio in Chile.

Now, the new Youtopia Vitacura Club located in the building opens its doors with a complete renovation of the interior design and all its facilities. Youtopia offers its members a wellness experience, more than just doing sports in a gym. Our inspiration for designing this experience comes from nature, its organic forms, textures, colours and contrasts. As a general concept we seek to generate a fusion of the cold and stony exterior of concrete, with a warm and fluid interior, to evoke a natural experience on a sensory level.

The project is approached from the objective of preserving the building, its iconic architecture, its sculptural character and its imposing spaces. The large circular concrete volume, which contains the entrance and acts as an articulator of spaces and flows in its interior, is respected. This also generates interesting views towards the water area, where the swimming pool is located, projected at triple height and illuminated from above.

In the fitness area, the three large triangular skylights that emerge from the ground and frame imposing views of the nearby Manquehue hill are maintained.The interior refurbishment is in tune with the organic concept of the architectural project and results in a warmer and cosier interior.

The colours and textures of the materials, as well as the lighting, are designed to convey serenity and comfort. On a functional level, the quality of the materials used is key to withstand the intensive use of the facilities.
The end result is a proposal adapted to the environment and respectful of the building. A renovation based on what is not new, but which provides an innovative experience of wellbeing down to the smallest detail.
